MOHAP Applications & Professional Registration Guide
Navigating MOHAP Applications
To practice medicine or operate a healthcare facility in the Northern Emirates (Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, and Umm Al Quwain), professionals must obtain licensure through the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP). The MOHAP regulatory framework is designed to ensure the highest standards of healthcare delivery across the UAE.
Below is an overview of the core applications required under the MOHAP system:
- Initial Assessment & DataFlow (PSV): The process begins with Primary Source Verification (PSV). Your educational qualifications, professional licenses, and experience certificates must be verified for authenticity directly with the issuing bodies through the DataFlow Group.
- Evaluation & Prometric Exam: Once your documents are verified, you must pass the MOHAP Prometric Examination for your specific specialty. Successfully completing this step leads to the issuance of an Evaluation Letter, confirming your eligibility to work.
- License Registration & Issuance: After securing an offer from a MOHAP-licensed facility, your Evaluation Letter is linked to the hiring facility to issue your active professional medical license.
- Add/Upgrade Professional Title: Professionals who have attained new higher-education degrees or sufficient years of clinical experience can apply to upgrade their title (e.g., from General Practitioner to Specialist or Consultant) according to the Unified Healthcare Professional Qualification Requirements.
- Good Standing Certificate Issuing: Should you need to transfer to another health authority (like DHA or DOH) or relocate internationally, MOHAP issues an official certificate validating that your practice record is free from malpractice or disciplinary actions.
- CME/CPD Hours Management: To renew your license, you are required to complete and log Continuous Medical Education (CME) hours. Keeping your professional development records up to date is mandatory for annual or biennial renewals.
- Health Facility Licensing & HR Management: MOHAP provides portals for facility owners and HR managers to apply for new facility licenses, renew existing ones, and manage the linking/delinking of their licensed medical staff to the facility’s official registry.
Understanding Unified PQR & Registration Requirements
MOHAP adheres to the Unified Healthcare Professional Qualification Requirements (PQR), which standardizes the licensing criteria across all UAE health authorities (MOHAP, DHA, and DOH). This document outlines the exact educational criteria and required clinical experience duration for every medical, dental, nursing, and allied health profession.
Standard documentation required for MOHAP registration includes:
- Clear Passport copy and recent passport-sized photographs (white background).
- Attested Educational Degrees, Diplomas, and Academic Transcripts.
- A valid and current Medical License from your home country or most recent country of practice.
- Detailed Experience Certificates covering the duration required by the Unified PQR.
- A recent Good Standing Certificate issued by the licensing authority of your last country of practice.
